The Construction Durability Database contains durability rankings for a vast range of building components, including some of the more innovative and modern components.

The latest revision of the data has been funded by an Innovation and Good Practice Grant from the Housing Corporation.

“The Housing Corporation is pleased to have sponsored the development of the BLP Construction Durability Database to provide Housing Associations and others with an easily accessible and authoritative source of knowledge on Component Life.

Website access is provided to a unique range of data including relative longevity of differing quality specifications, maintenance requirements and key design and durability issues. It will be a valuable aid to RSLs and their partners when setting out whole life value and asset management considerations."

Clive Clowes, Head of Housing Procurement
The Housing Corporation

The Database is a risk management tool, published by Building LifePlans Ltd and based on 15 years of data and research carried out by the Building Performance Group.

The durability rankings are risk management figures used to indicate the relative durability of components. Components with higher durability rankings have physical properties that lead us to expect improved durability for a given environment.

The data includes explicit criteria that determine durability, maintenance requirements, design and installation assumptions and adjustment factors.

The durability data can form the basis of whole life cost plans, component specifications and selection, and maintenance plans and asset management strategies.

Access to the database and to the updated information is provided free of charge to employees of Registered Social Landlords
