| BLP Construction Durability DataThe Housing Corporation has funded this Innovation and Good Practice project which provides up–to–date durability and specification data for building components. Benefits of the Construction Durability Data - Provides a means of specifying components by generic durability descriptions
- Enable tenant choices to be made in the context of components with equal longevity
- Have a durability justification for the use of sustainable materials and components
- Develop maintenance plans and property assessments, and
- Provide a measure of best value based on life–cycle cost and whole–life performance assessments.
- The same data provides the basis of business planning — enabling investment, dispersal and risk options to be appraised with regard to the condition and make up of actual buildings.
- Best Value can be assessed objectively using a consistent set of durability data. Sinking funds or service charges can be determined by the components used in the building rather than on historic or inappropriate data.
